Why use Crocodoc?
Crocodoc thrives on any site that hosts documents. Using Crocodoc, you can:
- Remove direct download links that take users off-site and require them to run Adobe Acrobat or Microsoft Word.

Is Crocodoc a document editor?
Not in the traditional sense. Crocodoc is not intended for directly editing documents like you would in
Google Docs or Microsoft word. Rather, its collaboration tools allow users to add comments and markups in a
layer on top of the document.
This allows Crocodoc to act as a universal document viewer while providing a unified set of collaboration tools
and preserving the original format of each document.
What is HTML5?
HTML5 and CSS3 are new web standards that power Crocodoc’s viewing and collaboration tools. They allow Crocodoc
to display documents as native web pages with virtually no loss in quality compared to the original.
Because Crocodoc uses HTML5 instead of Flash to display documents, users have the benefit of significantly
improved speed and security, as well as upcoming support for mobile devices.

For commercial applications of Crocodoc's API, please contact us to receive a quote customized to your application.
For non-commercial uses of Crocodoc's API, or for document embedding only (which does not require our API), Crocodoc is available free of charge.
Is the Partner Program different from the API?
Crocodoc's Partner Program is specifically for commercial applications of our API.
What file types are supported?
Crocodoc supports the following file formats: pdf, doc/docx, ppt/pptx, png, and jpg.
Is Crocodoc secure?
Yes. Crocodoc supports document viewing over Secure Sockets Layer (SSL). It also provides partners with the option of
storing all document assets on servers of their choosing for an additional layer of security.
Does Crocodoc work on mobile devices?
Crocodoc will be releasing mobile support in the near future.
